Our history

Like all stories, the story of the Eugin Group begins at a very specific place and point in time: Barcelona, 1998, when two physicians, colleagues and partners, decided to found the Eugin clinic. This first step was the seed of what only a few years later would become one of the world’s leading groups in reproductive medicine.

Throughout this time, the Eugin Group’s development has been characterised by a gradual expansion that has taken place through a strategy of acquisitions of successful IVF Centres on several continents, as well as opening new sites by leveraging Eugin’s vast expertise and brand recognition

Eugin Group takes a landmark step in its growth strategy with the acquisition of Instituto Bernabeu, creating the second largest fertility group in Spain. Founded in Alicante in 1985 by Dr. Rafael Bernabeu, Instituto Bernabeu has built a reputation over four decades as one of the most respected names in the field, with 9 clinics across Spain and Italy and a legacy of clinical innovation, genetic medicine, and patient-centred care.

In Brasil, we welcome Fertipraxis, based in Rio de Janeiro, to the Huntington Group. A move that reinforces our commitment to medical excellence, innovation, and responsible care in human reproduction.

These acquisitions mark another decisive step in Eugin Group’s ongoing commitment to growth, building a stronger, larger organisation capable of shaping the future of reproductive medicine worldwide.

Our Huntington Group in Brazil acquires ClĂnica Fertilidade e Vida, a leading reproductive medicine centre based in Campinas, SĂ£o Paulo. Founded and led by Dr. Carlos Petta. The clinic joins Eugin Group’s global network of centres, united by a shared commitment to medical excellence, innovation, and compassionate care in reproductive health.

In Spain, we created bLIVF, a boutique fertility clinic in Barcelona developed in partnership with Dr. Iñaki GonzĂ¡lez Foruria and Dr. Rebeca BeguerĂa. Unlike bigger clinics, bLIVF is built around an intentionally small, dedicated medical team that allows for the kind of close, personalised care that some patients seek in their fertility journey.

By the end of 2023, GED Capital acquires Eugin Group’s clinic network across Europe and South America, marking a defining milestone in the Group’s history. One of Spain’s leading private equity firms, with over 25 years of experience investing in high-growth sectors, GED Capital brings the strategic backing and long-term vision to accelerate Eugin’s expansion on a global scale.

The acquisition reinforces Eugin Group’s capacity to grow its brand into new geographies and strengthen its footprint in markets where demand for advanced reproductive medicine continues to rise. It also reflects the sector’s growing maturity and the confidence of institutional investors in Eugin’s clinical model and track record.
